Honoring a Legacy of Education & Knowledge

A true lover of Israel, Walter Zanger, ז״ל, was an American-born Israeli author and tour guide. Walter contributed to international newspapers, encyclopedias, and magazines, and proudly served as a dedicated member of the editorial board of the Jewish Bible Society.

Walter's wife, Paula Barnard, is a fellow educator who has devoted her life to helping struggling students learn to read. Contributions made here honor Paula and Walter's shared mission of helping Israeli children—especially those who need to work harder than others to master the English language successfully.

Why English Literacy Matters

Walter Zanger passed away in 2015, but his vibrant legacy remains alive and kicking. English is as the foundation for modern higher academic education in Israel, and stands as a vital pillar for a thriving career path in engineering, education, language arts, leadership, medical science, and high-tech innovation.

The Walter Zanger Scholarship Fund provides essential financial aid opportunities to students from low socio-economic backgrounds who wish to learn, expand their personal language foundations, and widen their lifelong horizons.

Our track target for this session is to provide 20 needy children with the customized educational backing they desperately need to learn to read with complete confidence.
